Two die as giant waves hit cruise ship
Two cruise passengers have reportedly died after giant waves hit a cruise ship in during rough seas in the Mediterranean.
Up to 14 other people were slightly injured on board the Louis Majesty as a result of the waves of up to 26ft in height.
The incident took place in bad weather near Marseilles as the vessel with 1,350 passengers and almost 600 crew was sailing between Barcelona and Genoa.
A spokesman for Louis Cruise Lines reporedly said the ship was hit by three abnormally high waves up to 26ft high. Glass windsheild in the forward section of the vessel were smashed.
The ship returned to Barcelona last night where the injured were taken to hospital.
The victims were indentified as being a German and an Italian.
The Louis Majesty was on a 12-day Mediterranean cruise.
