Uber to pay disabled riders after settling Federal lawsuit
Uber has settled an action brought by the Justice Department and will pay over $2 million for alleged Americans with Disabilities Act violations.
Uber charged a wait-time fee two minutes after arriving at a pickup, even though many riders needed longer due to a disability.
Uber must pay $1.7 million to about 1,000 riders who complained about being charged wait-time fees
It must credit the accounts of over 65,000 riders who registered for a wait-time waiver by doubling the amount of fees they were charged.
The company must promote the wait-time fee waiver program and increase customer service training about the program.
