Uh-oh … wrong package!

Thursday, 26 Feb, 2004 0

A would-be drug trafficker got a surprise when she collected human organs for transplant from an airport – instead of a packet of marijuana. The online news website USA.com reports that the woman arrived at Buffalo International Airport to pick up the packages, which has arrived on board a Delta Air Lines flight – but she was handed a box containing a pulmonary valve and a saphenous vein by mistake. In the meantime, security guards had recovered some 119 pounds of marijuana “wrapped in plastic and newspaper and smeared in mustard”. A woman and a man subsequently arrived at the airport to find out if they could exchange the packages, at which point they were arrested. The pair are currently being held on a charge of possessing marijuana with intention to supply – and could face a 20-year jail sentence if convicted. Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad
