UK Civil Aviation Authority to assist Thailand with aviation compliance

Tuesday, 22 Apr, 2016 0
Thailand has asked the UK Civil Aviation Authority to help improve its air safety after significant concerns were raised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation last year.

A team of around 10 experts from the CAA’s advisory arm, CAAi, will work with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) to strengthen its aviation safety oversight and compliance with the ICAO.

They will work with the CAAT to recertify Thai-registered air operators’ certificates and address ICAO’s significant safety concerns (SSC).

Maria Rueda, MD of the CAAi, said: "With almost 600,000 passengers flying to Thailand from the UK alone in 2014, we are fully committed to assisting CAAT raise its level of effective implementation and meet the international safety standards set by ICAO.

"Working together, we are confident we can help lift the SSC and strengthen Thailand’s aviation safety oversight."

The project is expected to begin in May.
