Unexpected wave rocks cruise ship
A Royal Caribbean cruise ship heading stateside across the Atlantic had a hairy moment as it was hit by a sudden large wave causing the ship the list.
It listed to the port side – some online comments say as much as about 45 degrees – causing upturned furniture aboard Explorer of the Seas.
The ship’s captain ordered guests back to their cabins as a precaution
Online comments suggested there were some minor injuries caused, although the cruise line has confirmed this.
Social media posts wrote of some initial panic among guests
The ship had departed Barcelona earlier this week en route to Miami.
The ship listed for about 10 minutes.
The captain later said it was an unexpected squall with around 80mph winds
