United Airlines launches Star Wars TV ad campaign
United Airlines is returning to TV for a nationwide ad campaign tapping the enduring popularity of the Star Wars franchise.
Tied in with the new ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ movie, the ads feature a United ramp agent dubbed a ‘wing walker.’
It is United’s first nationwide TV campiagn for several years.
The ad has been created by Victoria Mahoney, who was second unit director on the Star Wars movie.
"This spot is a wonderfully playful nod to a specific portion of The Rise of Skywalker," Mahoney said.
The 30-second ad will broadcast over the Thanksgiving holidays until January.
Other ad collaterals will be shown in airports, on taxis and at New York’s Penn Station, and in Times Square.
It will aso be on digital and social media.
United also recently unveiled Star Wars-themed livery on a Boeing 737 and launched a Star wars-themed in-flight safety video.
