United Airlines pondering premium economy on domestic routes
United Airlines said it is mulling introducing Premium Economy for the US domestic market.
Premium Plus service has been announced for international flights but United president Scott Kirby said the Chicago based airline is considering rolling it out on domestic routes.
"We look forward to announcing that, if we can get to a great product at some point," Kirby said Kirby said at an investor conference this week.
Premium Plus offers wider seats and upgraded in-flight catering along with priority boarding and other perks.
If it goes ahead United would be the first in the US, as no other airline offers a true premium economy product for the domestic market.
Delta Air Lines and American Airlines do have Comfort Plus and Main Cabin Extra respectively but these are simply the same seats as the main economy but with a little more legroom.
