United asks for new bankruptcy deadline
United Airlines asked for a 30 June deadline to submit its reorganization plan, which marked the third time the airline has asked for a delay from a US bankruptcy court, according to Reuters news service. United cited several issues that prevented it from submitting its own reorganization plan, including an application to the Air Transportation Stabilization Board to guarantee a $1.6 billion loan. United and parent UAL filed the largest Chapter 11 bankruptcy case in aviation history in December of 2002. The airline then predicted it would need court protection for up to 24 months.–David Wilkening–
