United partners with Lyft
United Airlines has teamed up with Lyft offering riders rewards for their next flight.
Lyft riders can earn MileagePlus points when they link their accounts.
Riders will accrue one mile for every dollar spent on Standard Priority Pickup and XL rides and two miles for every dollar on business.
There is three miles for every dollar on Extra Comfort, Lyft Black, Black SUV plus regular airport rides will earn three miles.
Pre-scheduled airport rides will earn four miles per dollar.
The companies aim to expand the partnership over time, said Richard Nunn, CEO of United’s MileagePlus program.
“This is very much the start of a very deep and meaningful technology integration,” Nunn said.
Riders will soon be able to redeem miles for rides directly on the Lyft app and will get alerts for United flights.
United Airlines is kicking off the partnership with 1,000 bonus miles for new Lyft riders who link their rewards accounts and complete two rides within 30 days.
It comes just a few months after Delta Air Lines ended its long term partnership with Lyft.
“A large amount of our customers use Lyft for trips to the airport, so we’re giving riders more value from rides they’re already taking,” said Lyft Chief Marketing Officer Brian Irving said.
