United passengers who refuse to wear headphones could be banned
United Airlines is cracking down on inconsiderate fliers.
It is targeting passengers who play audio and video content on their devices.
Always good manners to wear headphones, though not a specific rule, United is now making it a requirement and could ban travelers if they don’t comply.
United quietly updated its rules last week stating ‘passengers who fail to use headphones while listening to audio or video content’ could be banned from flying.
It is one of the conditions of carriage which sets out basic rules required of customers.
This gives the airline ‘the right to refuse transport on a permanent or a temporary basis’ for any infractions.
It is now a rule alongside other banned behavior such as wearing offensive clothes, violating the no smoking rule.
A limited supply of earbuds are available to use on most United flights for free
