United plane blows out tires on landing in Newark
Passengers arriving on a United Airlines jet had a few hairy moments after several tires burst on landing at Newark Liberty Airport.
In the second incident of the day on inbound flights from Germany, the touchdown caused mild panic as several tires burst on impact.
"We landed and it was like crazy. I almost went flying out of my seat. As soon as we landed, the tires popped and I knew the tires were flat — and it was just mayhem. Just wanted to get off the flight after 12 hours of flying," passenger Brianna Oakland told news station WCBS 880.
Up until that point the flight from Frankfurt had been uneventful.
To compound matters, the incident seemingly disrupted the offloading of baggage and some passengers had to wait several hours to reclaim their belongings.
In a separate incident, Flight 31 from Munich also bound for Newark was forced to land in London due to a several passengers complaining of feeling ‘light headed.’
Paramedics boarded the plane in protective gear but all passengers were later released after being checked.
However it was then too late to continue to Newark and all were accommodated in hotels overnight.
