United readies for Melbourne-L.A. launch
United Airlines will increase the frequency of its upcoming Melbourne-Los Angeles non-stop service from six-times-weekly to daily, effective March 12, 2015.
The new service – to be operated with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner – will operate from October 28 this year, subject to government approval.
Matt Miller, United’s managing director, Japan and Pacific, Sales, said the extra frequency "further demonstrates United’s strong commitment to the Australian market".
United says it has timed the new flights to connect conveniently at Los Angeles with an extensive network of services throughout the United States, Canada and Latin America.
The Boeing 787-9 aircraft operating the new Melbourne-Los Angeles service will have 252 seats – 48 in United BusinessFirst and 204 in United Economy, including 63 Economy Plus seats with added legroom and increased personal space.
