United’s Q4 loss deepens
United Airlines fourth quarter losses hit $819 million against $630 million the previous year.
The fourth quarter results show the airline, which has been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since December 2002, made a loss from operations of $655 million in the three months compared with $231 million a year earlier.
According to Forbes.com, United Airlines posted a narrower loss of $2 billion for the whole of 2004 compared with a loss of $3 billion in 2003.
Total operating revenue rose to $16.03 billion from $14.6 billion, with passenger revenue for the airline up to $12.28 billion from $11.3 billion.
