Unruly American Airlines passenger tasered by police
There was yet another incident of bizarre and unruly behaviour on a plane which saw a belligerent passenger violently struggle with police officers.
Jacob A. Garcia didn’t go quietly and it took being tasered multiple times, handcuffs and several Miami officers to subdue and remove him.
The incident happened on an American Airlines plane on the tarmac in Miami, and seems to have started after Garcia was accused of inappropriately touching a female passenger.
"The man started harassing a couple on the plane, hitting on the female and being disrespectful to the guy. Eventually the boyfriend called the flight attendant and asked that he be removed," said passenger Jabari Ennis, who caught it on video.
He was repeatedly asked to deplane but refused and became ‘combative’.
"American began the process of deplaning the entire aircraft. During that process, a physical altercation between the same two passengers took place. Once law enforcement was on the aircraft, the passenger then became combative with the officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department," American Airlines said in a statement.
According to fellow passengers Garcia grabbed the taser and unsuccessfully tried to grab an officer’s firearm during the struggle.
Garcia is facing charges of battery, depriving an officer of a firearm, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
