US, Canada ski demand booms
Skimax managing director Rodney Muller says the strength of the Australian dollar against its American and Canadian counterparts is a huge factor in the growth of business to US and Canadian ski resorts.
“The number of skiers and boarders heading to the northern hemisphere resorts is well up on previous years,†Muller says.
“The business we are generating to Canadian resorts has increased around 40 percent and to well-known American resorts it is (the increase) about 130 percent,†he says.
“On the flip side demand for Japan is still down and hasn’t recovered from the earthquake. This could also be a contributing
factor to the increase in demand for the USA and Canada.”
Japan, though, is offering good value at every price level, according to SkiJapan.com.
SkiJapan.com has moderately priced properties in Niseko village, where it also offers five-star accommodation at ski in ski out Alpen Ridge Apartments.
