US federal mask mandate extended again
The US administration is extending the federal mask mandate again – but this time for just 15 days. Travelers are still required to mask up in airports and on planes, buses and trains until May 3.
The current mandate was set to expire on Monday.
The shorter extension is to ‘assess the potential impact the rise of cases has on severe disease, including hospitalizations and deaths, and health care system capacity,’ the CDC said.
The decision was made due to the increasing spread of Covid in the US as air travel reaches close to pre-pandemic levels.
