US Thanksgiving travel will see modest growth
Traveling American activity during the upcoming Thanksgiving season will be a “bit less robust” this year, says AAA CEO and President Robert Darbelnet.
He cited higher prices and flagging consumer confidence as slowing the travel market.
But more than 37 million Americans will travel 50 miles or longer, which is almost a one percent increase over the previous year.
Gas prices have dropped 48 cents over the past two months, to an average of $2.29, AAA says.
But that’s still 32 cents higher than prices a year ago.
“You’d be hard pressed to tell Grandma that you’re not coming for Thanksgiving dinner because it will cost an extra 10 dollars to fill up your gas tank,” said Mr Darbelnet.
