Vietnam Airlines’ codeshare with Delta gets green light
Delta Air Lines’ planned codeshare cooperation expansion with Vietnam Airlines has been cleared for take-off by the US department of transportation.
The two-way codeshare pact is expected to begin later this month.
It allows Vietnam Airlines to add Delta’s DL code to its own operated flights and begins with the Hanoi – Tokyo route.
The VN code will eventually be added to 25 destinations in the US on flights operated by Delta mainline services and also extended to flights run by Delta’s regional affiliates.
Passengers can book tickets via Vietnam Airlines to fly onward from Tokyo to Detroit, Portland Honolulu, Atlanta, Seattle, Los Angeles and Minneapolis.
It also includes intercontinental connections via Frankfurt.
The codeshare tie-up also allows bookings for onward domestic flight sectors across the US from Minneapolis and Atlanta to Denver, Chicago, St Louis and other destinations.
The agreement builds on a one-way partnership first established in 2010 which permitted Vietnam Airlines to sell onward connections via Delta from Tokyo Narita and Frankfurt.
