Vietnam to unwrap new marketing campaign
HANOI – Vietnam’s tourism authorities are struggling to turnaround a slump in visitor arrivals.
The number of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hue and Da Nang, – especially visitors from Europe and the United States – has fallen by more than a third.
Visitor arrivals on cruise ships have also dropped.
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, Ngo Quang Vinh, said that services such as hotels, transport businesses and tourist companies should reduce tour prices and provide special treatment to international visitors.
The tourism industry should promote and advertise destinations to neighbouring countries, namely Thailand, Singapore, China and Korea.
Vietnam will officially unveil a new promotion package at the 2009 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2009) to be held in Hanoi, January 5-12.
