VisitBritain to run first cultural workshop

Wednesday, 21 May, 2007 0

Cultural attractions and arts organisations are being urged to attend VisitBritain’s first Cultural Tourism Workshop on June 13.

The event at the RSA in John Adam Street, London, is designed to showcase how industry partners can benefit and highlights what VisitBritain offers in marketing, PR and online support.

The workshop builds on consumer research from VisitBritain showing what choices visitors are making, their motivations and which segments show greatest potential.

Product development manager Adrian Bevan said: “2008 is an important year for cultural tourism.

“The handover from the Beijing Games marks the start of a four year cultural programme, the Cultural Olympiad, in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and is the year Liverpool has the title of European Capital of Culture.

“The Cultural Tourism Workshop enables the British tourism industry to take advantage of the spotlight that will be on cultural tourism in Britain as a result of this.”

Laurence Bresh, general manager of England Marketing at VisitBritain, will speak on how the tourist office develops and implements an integrated marketing plan. Fran Hegyi from the London Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic games will discuss the contribution that cultural tourism will make in light of the Cultural Olympiad.

Representatives from VisitBritain and Liverpool 2008 will be available to discuss ideas with delegates.

Delegates can register for the day long conference for £75 plus VAT.
