Visiting families, hosts both say “bah humbug”

Sunday, 13 Dec, 2010 0

Almost one-third of families would rather put their relatives up at a hotel than stay with them. While this may be seem like “bah, humbug,” the sentiment is reversed.

Even more families, or 39 percent of visiting relatives, would rather stay at a hotel than with relatives, according to Hotwire.com’s 2010 Holiday Family Gathering Survey.

“Everyone knows that family trips this time of year can be quite chaotic and typically involve uncomfortable, cramped accommodations,” says Hotwire.

“Although Hotwire can’t help you with your family, we can help you find a perfectly priced hotel and car deal, so maybe our customers will avoid a few of the awkward family holiday moments this year,” said Clem Bason, President of the Hotwire® Group.

He pointed out that Hotwire negotiates deep discounts from its travel suppliers to help travelers book unsold airline seats, hotel rooms and rental cars.
