Volumes up again for no frills carriers
Easyjet and Ryanair both reported a rise in carryings during February as the demand for no frills travel showed no sign of abating.
Easyjet saw volumes rise 9.4% to 2.37 million although load factors slipped 2.2 percentage points to 83.7%. Rolling 12-month carryings to the end of February hit 30.7 million, up 16%, with load factors rising 0.3 percentage points to 84.5%.
Ryanair meanwhile said passenger numbers increase from 2.12 million in February 2005 to 2.59 million this year. Load factors decreased from 79% to 78%.
For the rolling 12-month period, carryings hit 34.3 million with load factors at 83%.
