WA to be showcased on popular BBC program
British comedian Ben Elton will showcase Western Australia to hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide in an upcoming television show.
WA will feature on the popular BBC World program ‘Peschardt’s People’, providing a unique opportunity to show off the state’s attractions.
“The programs are being broadcast to hundreds of millions of people throughout Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, India, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand and Korea – some of our key international markets,” WA Tourism Minister Sheila McHale said.
Elton will show people around Perth and his some-time home of Fremantle.
“Ben will take the audience on a personal tour to his favourite spots, haunts and cultural attractions.”
The program will also showcase Broome and the North-West, featuring a visit to a pearl farm and demonstrating the evolution of the pearling industry.
WA is also being promoted to an international audience of 40 million by featuring in the latest series of Lonely Planet’s flagship television series, ‘Six Degrees’.
The show, which screened in Australia on Friday, will also be seen in the UK, Malaysia, Singapore and New Zealand. It featured some of Perth’s most popular attractions including the Swan River, Kings Park, Cottesloe Beach and Fremantle, along with Bunbury and Dunsborough.
