Weekend skiing catching on
Weekend ski trips have been gaining in popularity as more enthusiasts seek to enjoy a weekend negotiating their favorite slopes.
According to The Guardian these weekend getaways don’t come cheap as the scheduled flights used by weekend operators cost more than chartered flights and a weekend package would probably cost the same as a week. Despite these factors, there is a burgeoning interest in weekenders say two of Britain’s top weekend operators, Ski Weekend and FlexiSki, and the trend looks like it is here to stay.
To make the most of the little time one has it makes sense to go for a resort that is close to the airport. Some good options from London are Verbier and Villars in Switzerland, Chamonix and Megève in France and Courmayeur in Italy which are all within 1€ hours of Geneva; Lech and St Anton in Austria are 2€ hours from Zurich.
The weekend specialists take care of the headaches of renting skis and getting a lift pass so that all you have to do is make sure you get on that flight. Getting out of Heathrow might be a problem on a Friday night if you have not booked well in advance and these are the hassles that they are able to take care of as well as your return on Sunday night.
