Westin debuts in the Maldives
Marriott International’s wellness focused luxury brand Westin Hotels & Resorts has announced its Maldives debut with the unveiling of The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort.
Developed by partners Belluna Co. Ltd, Japan and Asia Capital PLC, Sri Lanka, The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort is located on the Baa Atoll, a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve site.
It is in close proximity to Hanifaru Bay, which is noted as the world’s largest gathering place for manta rays.
The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort features 70 villas and suites, including 29 over water, each measuring nearly 200 sqm.
There are three unique dining venues, the Westin signature branded spa concept, a 24-hour WestinWORKOUT fitness studio, a kids’ club and multifunctional event spaces.
"We are thrilled to introduce the Westin brand to the Maldives, strengthening our presence in Asia Pacific," said Mike Fulkerson, VP, brand and marketing, Marriott International Asia Pacific.
"The opening of The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort is a significant addition to our portfolio underscoring a meaningful wellness proposition for travellers."
Resort guests have immediate access to an adjacent reef and Miriandhoo is a turtle sanctuary, with common sightings of turtles nesting along the white beaches.
The resort also features an onsite accredited PADI dive centre.
