Westjet to launch new seasonal Florida flights
Announcing an expanded winter 2015-2016 schedule, Canadian carrier Westjet is heading south with new non-stop flights to Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Seasonal twice weekly flights from Toronto to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport begin on December 18.
"This is very exciting for Canadian customers traveling to our beautiful Gulf Coast communities and will provide additional opportunities for locals to explore Canada and other destinations worldwide," said Sarasota airport CEO Fredrick Piccolo.
Flights will be operated by Boeing 737-700 jets with 136 seats.
The airport secured the service from the discount airline after agreeing to fund a joint marketing campaign to promote the route.
The Toronto-Sarasota route is also served by Air Canada.
Westjet also announce several more new routes for winter including a four times a week service from Calgary to Liberia, Costa Rica.
Regional unit Westjet Encore will also fly to the US for the first time with the start of daily flights from Toronto and Halifax to Boston.
