Which is the cheapest airline in Europe?
While Ryanair might boast about its low fares, it turns out it’s not the cheapest airline in the world, it’s not even the cheapest in Europe.
In fact, when you look at the total fare, including the cost of checking in a bag, it limps home in only sixth place in Europe, after Turkey-based Pegasus Airlines, Air Lituanica, IAG-owned Vueling, Germanwings and Wizz Air.
Even when you look at the seat-only prices, Ryanair was still, on average, more expensive than Pegasus.
The research, by WhichAirline, found the cheapest airlines in the world were in Asia, with Malaysian Airlines-owned Firefly coming top with an average fare of €30.49, including one checked bag.
