Which social network is winning today’s popularity contest?
While Twitter is in the news making headlines with astronomical growth – now up more than 2,500% in just one year, Linkedin continues to be “the place of choice” for professionals. It is one of the quickest growing social sites and has more than doubled in the last 12 months. It now has more than 15.8 million people in the U.S. alone, which puts it right behind Facebook and MySpace.
LinkedIn’s recent growth can probably be attributed to the extremely high unemployment rate and the economy, as people are looking to connect, search for jobs and continue their career enhancement.
So to sum up the Top 10 results from March 2009:
Facebook 69 million users
Classmates 16.4 million users
LinkedIn 15.8 million users
Twitter 13.8 million users
Reunion.com 6.6 million users
Bebo 6.1 million users
Club Penguin 6.1 million users
Ning 5.6 million users
AOL Community 4.1 million users
My Yearbook 3.3 million users
