Why was Paris Hilton snubbed in New York?

Friday, 19 Sep, 2006 0

Celebrity Paris Hilton and her entourage routinely roll past velvet ropes keeping out other lesser-knowns but not at the Rose Bar at Ian Schrager’s new Gramercy Park Hotel. Why?

“I don’t have anything personal against her. But I want a really sophisticated bar that’s not part of that scene,” he told USA Today.

“People are fed up with kowtowing to celebrities making fools of themselves,” he added.

Oddly enough, Mr Schrager started Studio 54, which helped create the celebrity craze.

“Back then, celebrities did something. Now there are celebrities who’ve done absolutely nothing,” he explained.
