The wife of a British businessman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering him on the holiday island of Bali where he was building a hotel.

Robert Kevin Ellis, 60, who owned a dive shop in the Balinese resort of Sanur where he lived, was found in a ditch in a rice paddy in the Badun region with his throat slashed.

His wife, Julaikah Noor Aini, has been accused of hatching a murder plot with their maid and her boyfriend.

Police claim Mr Ellis, who was originally from Stockton in the UK, had been murdered at his villa in Sanur and his body wrapped in plastic and covered in a duvet before being dumped in a rice paddy, where it was discovered by a farmer.

All three suspects are under investigation at Bali’s police headquarters.
