Wild elephant filmed strolling through Sri Lanka hotel
Footage of a wild elephant going walkabout inside a Sri Lanka hotel has gone viral.
The ‘elephant in the room’ at Jetwing Yala Hotel is a familiar sight although this is the first time he has entered the property.
He is called ‘Natta Kota.’
"Though he is a regular visitor to our hotels, Natta Kota is still very much a wild elephant and we at Jetwing would have him remain as such. While it is exciting and memorable to encounter wild animals in and around our hotels, we humbly request that guests respect their space and maintain a healthy distance," the hotel said.
The video has already garnered more than six million views in two days.
In the video he is seen casually walking around the corridors and lobby.
Natta Kota is a long-time resident of the nearby Yala National Park, although makes regular appearances close to the hotel grounds.
He has been the hotel’s ‘most loyal patron’ since 2013.
Jetwing says he has had previous ‘mischievous moments’ such as stealing food from parked vehicles and from the kitchen.
