Wizz Air launches new route to Poland
Cut-price carrier Wizz Air is to launch a new flight from Luton to Olsztyn-Mazury in northeast Poland.
Flights to the ‘Polish Lake District’ will start on June 18.
They will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to offer an initial capacity of 27,000 seats this year.
Wizz Air said the new route is expected to stimulate aviation and hospitality sectors in the region in addition to allowing Masurian passengers cheap travel to the UK.
Leszek Krawczyk, CEO of Olsztyn-Mazury Airport, said: "Olsztyn-Mazury airport is a window to the world for the Warmia and Mazury region.
"So far, this region of northeast Poland was a so-called ‘white spot’ on the Polish aviation map.
"We are convinced that with such partners as Wizz Air, flights into Olsztyn – Mazury Airport will encourage foreign tourists to visit and increase the mobility of inhabitants of Warmia and Mazury through air travel which has never been so fast and so convenient."
