Sanders of Teletext

Sanders faces competition for the 2011 Shine Award from learnpurple chief executive Jane Sunley, Sodexo commercial director Michelle Hanson and McDonald’s UK chief executive officer Jill McDonald.

The winner will be announced on March 31 at an event at the Savoy Hotel hosted by TV presenter Gaby Roslin.

Other Shine Awards, all of which are designed to recognise female success in the hospitality, travel and tourism industry, include Small Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Outstanding Entrepreneur, Mentor, Rising Star and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sharon Glancy, founder of award organisers Women 1st said: “The companies on our shortlist are those that have performed outstandingly over the past year and have nurtured talent within their diverse teams in order to maximise business potential.

"Having a diverse management team leads to more balanced decision making and this can provide better understanding of markets. In fact research has found that companies who have women in senior board level positions perform significantly better so it makes commercial sense to help female staff achieve their career aspirations.”
