WTTC release latest environmental impact research data
The World Travel & Tourism Council has released the latest Environmental Impact Research data.
The study was initiated by the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, and is in partnership with Sustainable Tourism Global Center.
Last year, during the WTTC Global Summit in Riyadh, the two organisations launched the collaboration with the inaugural results including the travel sector’s first analysis of greenhouse gas emissions.
The report details travel and tourism’s direct impact, as well as its supply chain impacts, both within national borders and those iwithin international supply chains.
The ER data covers 185 countries across all regions and will be updated each year with the latest data.
It introduces individualised factsheets for each country and major global regions, with a dedicated microsite allowing users to explore specific data in detail.
Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO said: “This a pivotal moment for the global tourism sector. Through this data, we are highlighting the sector’s multi-dimensional impact.”
“We’re talking about a vision that sees beyond tourism and leans into its sustainable future.”
