Wynn Resorts lawsuit accuses Resorts World Las Vegas of copying its design
Casino operator Wynn Resorts filed a lawsuit claiming rival Genting is copying its building design for the adjacent Resorts World Las Vegas.
The US$4 billion project is due to open by 2020.
Wynn filed the suit in Nevada last week and is seeking punitive damages for ‘trade dress infringement, trademark dilution and copyright infringement.’
Wynn alleges the similar design is an attempt to mislead the public in believing Resorts World is affiliated with Wynn.
The lawsuit contained photographs taken of the under construction project which Wynn says are copied from its own design.
In a Kuala Lumpur stock exchange filing, Genting said it will ‘strenuously defend the claim and tale all necessary legal action as appropriate.’
