Ryanair inks Iberian sustainable aviation fuel deal

Monday, 05 May, 2023 0

Ryanair has signed a new sustainable aviation fuel supply agreement with global energy group Repsol.

The MOU will advance the supply of SAF at Ryanair airports across Spain and Portugal.

It builds on Ryanair’s Pathway to Net Zero strategy.

The agreement with Repsol gives Ryanair access to up to 155,000 tonnes (52m gallons) of sustainable aviation fuel between 2025 and 2030.

This is equivalent to over 28,000 short haul flights, saving approximately 490,000 tonnes in emissions.

Ryanair has set itself the goal of using 12.5% SAF by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.

Ryanair DAC CEO Eddie Wilson, said: “SAF plays a key role in Ryanair’s Pathway to Net Zero strategy and Repsol is a key sustainability partner for Ryanair.”
