New mid-week trade days will feature as the Best of Britain and Ireland show moves into central London for 2010 as part of British Tourism Week.
As the sole national exhibition serving the domestic tourism market, Best of Britain & Ireland’s two trade days will be Wednesday March 17 and Thursday March 18. Doors then open to the public for the following two days.
Initiatives being introduced for the 2010 Show include a move to London’s Olympia from ExCel in Docklands and a high profile VIP domestic hosted buyer programme with more than half of the 250 places taken in just two weeks by leading domestic travel professionals.
The success of the 2009 event and the new elements being introduced have seen exhibitor demand soar and a 25% increase in the size of the event. Now only a fifth of space remains.
New exhibitors include Accor, Albatross Travel Group, Barceló Hotels UK, Cadbury World, City Cruises, Eurotunnel, Guoman and Thistle, Hilton Hotels, Norman Allen Group Travel, Ramada Jarvis and The Royal Horticultural Society.
Complementing the traditional overseas hosted buyer programme sponsored by VisitBritain, Best of Britain & Ireland 2010‘s first domestic hosted buyer programme will run in partnership with the Coach Tourism Council, Confederation of Passenger Transport, Group Travel Organisers Association and Group Travel Organiser magazine.
Among those who have already signed up are senior representatives from 96 leading coach operators and 42group travel organisers.
Event director Angie Watson said: “We are on course to deliver a premium showcase with unprecedented backing from across the industry.
“With every nation and region of Britain and Ireland represented, the event goes from strength to strength and feedback from the industry, exhibitors and attendees on this year’s show continues to shape the 2010 event.”
The domestic hosted buyer programme includes a package of networking events such as a welcome lunch reception with Welcome to Yorkshire, Tourism Ireland’s St. Patrick’s Day reception, morning refreshments courtesy of Visit London, afternoon tea in the member’s dining room at the House of Commons, overnight accommodation co-ordinated with Leisure Breaks and courtesy coach transfers supplied by Coaches etc. Participating buyers can also take a Thames river tour and dinner with Bateaux London plus a night out at one of the capital’s West End musicals thanks to Dewynters.
VisitBritain distribution and commercial director Kenny Boyle said: “The success of the hosted buyers programme and the wider support the show is receiving from every sector of the industry is great news.
“Best of Britain & Ireland 2010 will be the centrepiece of British Tourism Week 2010 and will provide the high profile, national trade marketplace that our important industry deserves.
“And of course, for consumers, it’s also the ideal way to explore the best of Britain and Ireland’s amazing destinations and travel products at a time when most predictions are for another solid growth year for domestic travel.”
