Abu Dhabi achieved record hotel guest growth in July, with numbers up by more than a third over the same month in 2010.

There was a 38 percent increase in overall guests to 189,486 in July and a 35 percent lift in guest nights to 507,612.

The figures continue a strong growth trend in the first half of the year, with hotel occupancy levels increasing 10 percent to 70 percent over the same period in 2010.

In July, Australian guest numbers increased by 61 percent.

In the next five months, Abu Dhabi will see the opening of the Monte-Carlo Beach Club, Saadiyat, as well as seven hotel openings, including the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort and the Ritz Carlton Grand Canal Abu Dhabi.

Upcoming major events include the third F1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Abu Dhabi Art Festival (Nov, 2011) and the World Green Tourism, Abu Dhabi and the Volvo Ocean Race (Dec, 2011).

The PGA European Tour-backed Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Tournament will be held early 2012.
