Accor sells former Mirvac properties
Accor Asia Pacific has sold The Sebel hotel in Mandurah, Western Australia, for close to AUD15 million but retained long-term management rights.
The buyers are entities associated with FJM Property, a Perth company whose current projects include conversion of central Perth’s heritage Old Treasury Buildings into a hotel, hospitality and retail complex.
The Sebel Mandurah, 70km south of Perth, was part of the Mirvac Hotel portfolio which Accor purchased in mid 2012.
The portfolio included two freehold hotels – the Sebel Newcastle and Sebel Mandurah. As part of Accor’s "asset light" strategy, the group decided to sell the properties, while retaining the management agreements.
The sale includes 89, 4.5 star hotel rooms and apartments plus an additional six permanent residential strata apartments and car parking.
