Africa Now Recruiting Executive Director

Monday, 10 Nov, 2008 0

Africa Now is an international development organisation tackling poverty in Africa by helping small-scale producers establish sustainable businesses and by promoting ethical trade. We create equitable and sustainable work and jobs for rural Africans through projects, services and advocacy which enable them to take advantage of market opportunities and fairer trade to achieve a decent standard of living.

They are a growing charity with a turnover of £1.7m, and they are now looking for a business-minded, forward thinking leader to take their vision to the next stage. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, supportive team, with a UK office in Oxford.

Africa Now recently won Charity of the Year 2007, one of the most prestigious accolades to be awarded by the Charities Aid Foundation and The Times’ Public Agenda section. In October of 2008 the Charity was awarded the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Regional Award in the Social Category.

They wish to hear from applicants with prior experience of leading an organisation at a senior level, with particular skills in international programme management, change management, fundraising and communications. You should be able to multitask between the hands-on and the strategic, and demonstrate the skills and personality to build on the gains of the past 3 years. You should also have excellent networking skills, and a strong knowledge of the international development and ethical trade and business sectors.
