Africa Travel Connect lays out tourism strategy in first webinar
Recently launched Africa Travel Connect, marked a significant milestone by hosting its first-ever webinar.
Established by Yared Bizuneh in June of this year, its aim is to boost tourism throughout the continent.
The August 29 webinar helped showcase Africa’s diverse and rich cultural heritage to a global audience.
The event, a Tourism Insight Virtual Summit, convened industry experts to discuss strategies for elevating the profile of African tourism.
Yared Bizuneh outlined an ambitious plan to quintuple tourism’s contribution to the continent’s economy, raising it from 6% to 25%.
This growth, Bizuneh said, can be achieved through promotional activities, dynamic news platforms, interactive marketplaces, educational initiatives, strategic investments, and engaging events.
The webinar saw participation from more than 30 companies, including Visit Zimbabwe, Pure Morocco and Fairmont.
Yared Bizuneh’s presentation was supported by the contributions of guest speakers including Cass Helstrip, who offers expertise as a freelance public relations consultant for Africa Travel Connect.
Additionally, insights were shared by Gary Jacobs, the founder and director of Spinning Globe, as well as Luca Romozzi and Cedric Lopez, representing Sojern.
This event precedes Africa Travel Connect’s first ‘Meet the Media’ scheduled for the September 25 in Hammersmith, London.
Media representatives will have the chance to engage directly with stakeholders, including tourist boards, airlines, and hotels.
Additionally, travel agents and industry publications are invited to participate.
Attendees include Ethiopian Airlines and Zimbabwe Tourist Board.
Other interested parties can register interest via [email protected].
Founder Yared Bizuneh said: “We were delighted with the remarkable success of the Tourism Insight Virtual Summit, it’s evident that such platforms are not just events, but catalysts for growth and unity.”
“I am confident that with continued collaboration and investment, tourism in Africa will experience unprecedented growth”.
