Air India flight takes U turn after deploying wrong plane
An Air India aircraft has taken an hours-long flight to nowhere in a scheduling gaffe.
A scheduled flight bound for Canada was forced to turn around back to India after about four hours.
It was discovered at this time that the aircraft deployed was not authorised to fly that route.
It was in the air over China several hours into the journey and had to return to Delhi.
Flight AI185 was a Boeing 777-200LR instead of a Boeing 777-300ER which is approved for flights to Canada.
It led to a wasted journey of about eight hours.
Air India called it an ‘operational issue.’
A replacement aircraft later took off and landed in Vancouver without incident.
