AirAsia X has officially named the date for its much heralded US debut.

The long-haul inuit of AirAsia will begin flying four times weekly from Kuala Lumpur to Honolulu, Hawaii via Osaka from June 28, 2017.

It is a ‘game-changer’ for AirAsia’s route expansion, says AirAsia X Group CEO Datuk Kamarudin Meranun.

"We wish to thank all relevant authorities and governments for their support. Their vote of confidence made today’s unique route launch possible and we will continue to work closely with all parties to ensure we can connect more people through this flagship intercontinental route."

"By connecting Asean and North Asia to the US with our world-class low fares offering, we will make it possible for those who could only dream of a vacation across the Pacific to take that trip," he added.

Transit time in Osaka is two hours for flights which operate outbound on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and, Saturday.

AirAsia X operates a fleet of 30 A330-300s with 365 economy seats and 12 Premium Flatbeds, serving 22 destinations in Asia, Australasia and the Middle East.
