Airline business confidence is up
IATA (the International Air Transport Association) says airline business confidence improved in January 2013.
The organization’s quarterly survey of airline CFOs and heads of cargo published today reports that 56% of respondents say that they expect an improvement on profitability in the 12 months.
The survey says that although confidence levels bottomed out at the start of 2012, they have been steadily improving since then, with increases over the last three months when passenger yields have helped the industry achieve gains.
The survey also reports that although airlines cut staff in last year’s fourth quarter to lower costs, no further decline in jobs in the industry is likely over the coming 12 months.
