Airports register bank holiday record
BAA says 780,000 travellers were heading for Heathrow over weekend
Britain’s airports have just seen their busiest bank holiday weekend in history, according to figures released by BAA.
A report in The Guardian states that airports operator expected 780,000 people to have passed through Heathrow airport over the weekend, with 480,000 passing through Gatwick, 265,000 using Stansted, and 190,000 through Glasgow.
A spokesman told the newspaper: “We think it will be the biggest bank holiday on record in terms of air travel.”
