Alaska Air next carrier to raise checked bag fees
Alaska says it will be the next mainline carrier to hike checked bag fees.
Like its peers United, JetBlue and Delta, Seattle based Alaska is raising fees to $30 from $25 for the first checked bag and to $40 for the second.
The third checked bag fee rises 25% to $100 yet this is still significantly less than most of its competitors.
The fee changes take effect for tickets booked from December 5.
Only Southwest Airlines still offers free checked bags which continues to tout its ‘bags fly free’ policy.
