Alaska tops bucket list for cruisers
When Princess Cruises asked its clientele its bucket list for 2011, Alaska was rated No. 1.
“One-fourth of respondents resolved to travel to the 49th state in the coming year,” the cruise line said.
Other questions revealed that most cruisers are looking for a relaxing vacation and plan to travel with their spouse or significant other, Princess added.
Princess’ own “Essential Experiences” blog also offered travelers inspiration for their bucket lists, with most respondents citing dog sledding on an Alaskan glacier or to plan a visit to the “lost city of the Incas,” Machu Picchu, in Peru.
“Surprisingly, more than one-fourth of consumers chose a US destination over an exotic international location, citing Alaska as their first choice,” the cruise line says.
In addition to Machu Picchu, other travelers selected climbing the cliffs of Santorini, Greece; traveling the golden circle in Iceland; exploring the ancient city of Petra, Jordan; and journeying to Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as top choices of places to go before they die (bucket list).
