Amadeus to unveil hotel reservations tool with multi-media
Amadeus is planning a June launch for the latest version of its hotel selling platform incorporating multi-media functionality.
Amadeus UK managing director Stephane Durand claimed the trade selling system was on a par with any consumer booking engine.
Amadeus Hotel Plus is web-based and moves further away from the traditional green-screen code of the global distribution systems and introduces more point and click features.
The hotel application is quicker and easier to use and halves the number of steps required to make a booking from six to three.
Every property on the system is geo-coded so that travel consultants can see a range of properties in a particular location if the first choice is not available.
The system also offers detailed maps, 360-degree pictures and videos.
Durand said the technology was primarily aimed at the corporate market to help travel management companies provide more value and drive adoption of online booking tools.
The GDS has also enhanced its self-booking tool with improved integration of content as well as additional functions such as the e-concierge travel and destination information service.
Durand said: “The reason we continue to invest is to improve adoption. The smaller the company the lower the adoption so we need to make it far more intuitive so the traveller does not think of picking up the phone.”
He said Amadeus had carried out some research recently which showed more than 60% of customers have seen ‘significant savings’, by using the self-booking tool.
