American Airlines adding service to Sarasota from Philadelphia
American Airlines is launching new service connecting Philadelphia with Florida’s Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.
The new weekend seasonal route will begin on January 12, 2019 until September 1, 2019, operating Saturdays and Sundays.
It becomes American’s third recently announced route out of Sarasota, after Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago O’Hare, which both start in December.
"We could not be happier with the growth American Airlines is providing at SRQ. These new routes and larger aircraft will provide a significant upgrade in service for our visitors and local community," said airport CEO Rick Piccolo.
American faces low fare competition from Frontier Airlines, which launches twice-a-week nonstop flights between Philadelphia and SRQ in December.
The airport has seen double digit growth in passenger traffic since the summer with slew of new flights and added frequencies from airlines including Allegiant Airlines and JetBlue.
SRQ is also served by United and Delta.
