ANA latest airline to trial IATA’s Travel Pass

Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA) will become the latest Asia Pacific airline to trial the IATA Travel Pass health verification app.

It confirmed it will  pilot the scheme but hasn’t said when it will start.

It joins other carriers Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Air New Zealand which have signed up for trials.

"With constant changes to international travel requirements adding to the complexity of travel, IATA Travel Pass enables passengers to easily verify whether they meet the Covid-19 testing requirements of their destination and share their test results in a secure way," said Yuji Hirako, President and CEO of ANA.

The app allows travellers to upload their Covid test results or proof of vaccination which can be verified with airlines and authorities on the day of travel.

Singapore Airlines will be the first to start trails of the app next week.

"With the trial, ANA is helping global aviation to get back on its feet by giving Governments the confidence to safely re-open borders and re-connect people. IATA Travel Pass will help travelers to verify their compliance with Covid-19 requirements using health credentials securely linked to their identity," says Alexandre de Juniac, Director General and CEO of IATA.
